Just a few years ago, the name Linet wouldn’t have rung a bell for me. Today, I know it’s one of the world’s leading manufacturers of hospital beds and medical equipment. So, getting the opportunity to shoot a product video for such a prestigious company was a big deal.
The agency Outbreak approached several production houses, asking them to pitch ideas for a commercial for this renowned brand.
I came up with the idea of a bullet-time spot that would perfectly capture the inner voice of a nurse. Both the agency and the client loved the concept, so we got to work. It was a short but incredibly intense process.
I watched Linet’s existing videos and quickly realized their quality was top-notch. We had a very limited budget and prep time, but I was determined to come as close as possible to the level of quality I had seen on their website. It ignited something in me.
The entire spot is essentially a nurse’s confession, highlighting how every little bit of support matters in performing such a demanding job. Nurses abroad frequently face burnout, breakdowns, and injuries, which contribute to the shortage of healthcare professionals.
The key for me was to create a strong and visually striking piece that resonated with the narrative while ensuring meticulous preparation. As is often the case, we had very little time to execute the project.
Working with Fíla, we created an animatic that had to match the final spot 1:1—there was no room for improvisation or delays.
As soon as we got the job, I visualized exactly how the camera should move, what should happen in each segment, and how the actors should look. I held onto this vision tightly and fought to see it through to the very end. And it worked.
Lets have a brief look at the animatic we created.
Then it was all about convincing the right people to join the project. I wanted Radim Střelka behind the camera—he’s incredibly technically skilled, and after years of working together, we’ve developed a great rhythm. For sound, my go-to was Miky Kocáb, who elevated the project significantly.
A big shoutout also goes to the production team at Silencio, HEXAR Studios, Yerekem, and the guys at Blackbot! Everyone poured an incredible amount of energy into making the final result what it is.
Final motto: Preparation is pain; the rest is joy.
